Birchall Active Trails
Birchall Recreation Ground offers a peaceful and scenic setting, perfect for a relaxing walk, energising jog, or refreshing run around the grounds.
Birchall Recreation Ground is located on Cheddleton Road, Leek, ST13 5RE
We have provided a few routes of different distances for you to enjoy, and the option of doing one or more laps. We have even mapped all the benches, so you will know when there is the opportunity for a little rest if you need it, or just to enjoy the view!
The 5k route is the official parkrun route at Birchall. The route starts on the 400 metre all weather track, then leaving for 3 laps on the tarmac/grass path and then finishing back on the all weather track. With the active trail map, you have the option of trying out one or two laps of the route, either as a walk or jog whenever you like. They may help you to familiarise yourself with the route, and begin to increase your fitness levels.
The Birchall parkrun 5k event is held every Saturday, and starts at 9am. It is free to join in, you just need to register once with parkrun, and bring along your barcode. Please see this link for more details: Birchall parkrun
You can download a map of the 1 lap, 5k and bench routes below.
Birchall Recreation Ground is home to a range of outdoor fitness equipment that adds variety and challenge to your workout. Positioned conveniently along the perimeter path, the equipment offers a great way to mix strength and cardio training. Whether you’re walking, jogging, or running, you can pause to incorporate bodyweight exercises, making your visit both energising and well-rounded.
Bench Fitness – We have created 6 short videos, with exercises you can do on the benches around the site. These exercises help support strength and mobility, and can be viewed below, or by the QR code on the large maps on site.
