Birchall Active Trails – 1 lap Route
One full lap around the perimeter path at Birchall Recreation Ground covers approximately 1.4 kilometres, or around 1,800 steps, making it a fantastic way to build up your fitness gradually. The route is fully accessible and features several bench stops along the way, offering opportunities to rest, stretch, or simply enjoy the surroundings. Whether you’re walking, jogging, or combining the path with the outdoor fitness equipment, it’s a great way to stay active in a scenic and supportive environment.

Individual Routes
We’ve created a simple and accessible exercise routine for you to try using the benches around the grounds. Click on each link to watch a video of that exercise.

The exercises are designed to work the major muscles in the upper and lower body, your core (including your lower back) whilst getting the blood and oxygen flowing round your heart and lungs. Incorporating functional exercises into your daily routine allows the entire body to work together, supporting smoother and more efficient everyday actions.
