Successful start for Cheadle Pump Track!

The new Pump Track, installed at Churchill Road Recreation Ground, Cheadle, has been a huge success since opening in July. Connecting children, young people, and adults in a safe but exciting new way!
We recently had some photos and words contributed from a local youth worker who spoke with young people, a couple of parents, and a lovely guy who has nominated himself to litter pick each day.
One young person commented how happy they were to now have the track; they used to regularly travel to Kidsgrove to use the track over there, however the Cheadle track is a only short distance from his house.
A young adult, in their early 20s, said how beneficial it was for their overall health. They work as a welder at JCB, working long days in the welding booth; they feel so much better now that they are able to now regularly spend a couple of hours in the evening using the track.
A father of three younger children commented that it was “great to see the older young people regulating the middle-aged children to be aware of the very young children using the track”. Naturally everyone was being respectful of each other, enabling different speeds and abilities to all have a fair opportunity of using the track.
The litter picking is done with support from Cheadle Town Council, who have provided blue bags from Dave. The gentleman responsible said he loved seeing the young people enjoying the bump track and doing something active. As he was taking his daughter’s dog for a walk each day, it made sense to him to do something useful, in order to keep the positive spirit going in the area. Since he has been collecting the litter, he noted that those using the pump track became more aware of keeping the place tidy.
There were lots of positive comments and it’s fabulous to see all ages & abilities using the facilities.
